Satellite Parks
To accommodate larger biotechnology, pharmaceutical and life sciences companies that cannot be served by the Park’s downtown campus, the Park has entered into formal agreements with nearby counties for the joint development and marketing of alternative sites to the main campus, in addition to an incubator/commercialization center focused on alternative energy technologies. The satellite parks give bioscience companies a suburban site option while maintaining affiliations with the Biotech Park and Virginia Commonwealth University.
Meadowville Technology Park (MTP) in Chesterfield County is a 1,300 acre site near the James River. Henrico County’s White Oak Technology Park contains approximately 2,250 acres of land which has been master-planned to attract and support high-technology companies, including those in the microelectronics and bioscience industries. Both sites are convenient to major interstate highways as well as Richmond International Airport, and are less than 20 minutes drive from the Research Park’s main campus and VCU.
The Dominion Resources GreenTech Incubator is located in Ashland, and is jointly sponsored by Hanover County, the Town of Ashland, Dominion Resources and the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park. It is intended to assist entrepreneurs and companies in the clean/alternative energy sectors with developing their technologies and building successful enterprises.
