Greater Richmond, Virginia has become recognized as “The New East Coast Center for Biosciences.” Contributing to this growing reputation are several partners to the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park.
Virginia Commonwealth University is a nationally-ranked research institution with over $255 million in sponsored research and an institution-wide emphasis on life sciences research, education and community service.
The Virginia BioTechnology Association (VaBIO) is a 200-member statewide organization which promotes the scientific and economic impact of the life sciences industry throughout Virginia.
Helping to attract life science companies to the state and Central Virginia are: the Virginia Economic Development Partnership; Greater Richmond Partnership; local economic development departments of the City of Richmond, and Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico counties. Organizations like the Greater Richmond Technology Council; the Venture Forum and Center for Innovative Technology are examples of complementary resources and information for life science companies considering Greater Richmond and the Biotech Park.
